To My Mother & Family,
Although we expected to loose Dadda a long time ago, nothing ever prepared us completely for this day. He is no longer with us and we all are left with an empty space in our lives. I know that there will be times that we cry and there will also be many times when we can only laugh as he did leave us with many fond memories. It’s those we will cherish and that will help us when we feel we cannot do without the “bladdy old fool”.
I just want to thank you for being a good wife to him for all these years. It was a hard life you led and no one knows that better than us as a family. I know you loved Dadda and no matter how tough times were, it was that love for the old fool that pulled you through caring for him day in and day out. He loved you too, I could see it in the way he looked at you a couple of times in hospital, and by the things he would say.
Your life will never be the same again, thirty six years is a long time to be with the first and perhaps the only man you loved. Now that he is gone you will have an emptiness no words can describe and I cannot imagine the way you must feel. He would want you to be happy and to take care of yourself.
He is in a better place, and without the constant pain he is resting in peace. I sure hope I see him on the other side and hope I make him proud as that is all I have ever wanted to do, is to make my parents proud.
Thank you for pulling me through my terrible time last year. Without your support and Dadda’s I would not have made it. You told me what Trevor did for me and made me realize that I don’t want any other man in my life. I also want to be grateful for a life lived to the full with the man I love. Thank you for being such a good role model as a wife to my Dad and as a mother to the three of us. We have had a lot of bad times and been through a lot of pain, now we need to live our lives to the fullest.
Dadda is going to be missed for sure. No more fighting with Michelle when she swears like a trouper, No more bitching about Morne’ and money, No more complaints that I don’t visit often enough… But no more Dadda! Dambed that really is hard to imagine…
Promise me you will take care of yourself? I told you last year I am not ready to loose my parents, and I still am not. God made that choice for us and for that I am grateful, but I DO NEED YOU! You mean so much to us, and I know we don’t tell you often enough but I hope that will change in the future.
Thank You!
All my love always!
Odette (your baby!)
